Lessons Learned: Tela of Tela Holcomb

Learn about Tela, Investing and Trading coach.
As I get older, I am mindful of how important my finances are when it comes to life I want to live. This is where Tela of Tela Holcomb comes into the picture. Over two years ago, someone suggested that I follow her on Twitter. Tela imparts amazing information that helps her audience become knowledgeable without feeling lost at all. She is a trading and investment coach based in Las Vegas, NV that is helping people from all over find financial freedom on their terms.

Why did you start your business? I’ve been able to create a life where I don’t have to rely on a full-time job and I want to help others learn how to trade their 9 to 5 in the stock market as well.
How long have you been in business? I’ve been teaching how to trade the stock market since 2015 but I’ve been trading since 2009.
The biggest obstacle when initially launching? My biggest obstacle when I launched was myself! I wanted everything to be “perfect” before I got out into the world. This really held me back. It wasn’t until I put myself and my product out there that I received validation and learned what needed improving.
If you could start all over again what would you do differently? If I could start all over again, I would find an accountability partner or mastermind sooner. The accountability and encouragement I’ve received from my accountability partner and mastermind have helped me tremendously! Before connecting with them, I wasted so much time second-guessing myself and working on tasks that didn’t help me move my business forward.
What area of the startup do people not provide that much information on that you had to dig deeper for? I don’t think there’s enough info out there about the hustle and struggle of starting and running a business. There will be a lot of times where you feel like no one is listening or watching. Your business may grow into something that isn’t conducive to the lifestyle you set out to have. But keep going and pivot if you have to.
How much was the initial startup cost for your business? My initial investment costs were about $800 for my business license, website, email provider, and course platform. With all the free resources out there and social media, the cost of getting started can be very low!
What is your favorite thing about being your own boss? My favorite thing about being my own boss is being able to spend more time with my daughter. And naps. Definitely naps.

Do you have a community that surrounds you? If so, how do you find these amazing people? Yes! I have a mastermind of folks that support me and my goals. I found them by engaging in groups and networking. The individuals that have similar goals and are stronger in certain areas that you are not and vice versa would potentially make great accountability partners or mastermind members.
Did you utilize the services of a consultant, ebooks or eCourse when launching? If so, why was it important for you to do this? Yes, I used some consulting and ecourses to help me get started. This was important for me because I wanted to get started without the learning curve and mistakes. What better way to do that than with resources and support of someone who’s been there and is getting results. Through this, I’ve been able to accelerate my learning in launching a course, creating a funnel, and implementing Facebook ads.
Where do you see your business 3 years from now? 3 years from now I see my business being a multi-million dollar business from my online products, books, and speaking engagements.
What advice would you give a new business owner? You are enough. Being uniquely you and teaching what you know will change someone’s life.
Favorite resources for small business owners? My favorite resources are Canva for graphics, Planoly for my Instagram, and my social media accounts!
Which blogs or podcast are you loving right now? I am loving NPRs podcast How I Built This. It highlights the creators of some big brands and their journey to create their empires. I love hearing about the hustle, the struggle, and the pivot. It encourages me to keep going.
How can we support you to help you grow your business? If you know someone that may be interested in trading the stock market, please tell them about my free course where I show just how easy it can be!
telaholcomb.com/freecourse I’m also looking for speaking opportunities where I can share my knowledge. If you know someone or an organization looking for speakers, I would love to hear about it!
