Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and everyone needs a little love. Spread the love by checking out these small businesses and shopping their store for your Valentine’s gift for a loved one or even a gift for yourself. I personally own a Love print already, but I think I need some Whipped Body Goods (hopefully those will be coming home very soon).
One of my big goals for 2013 is to help increase awareness of the small business community and fierce entrepreneurs across the United States. I pondered for some time how I was going to do this. I came up with the idea of spotlighting some of my fave businesses and other entrepreneurs I met along the way. Throughout the Whats In Your Bag series I hope you will learn of new businesses to support & gain inspiration to follow your dreams.
I had the pleasure of attending the Entrepreneur Growth Conference in Dallas. This conference was on my mind for about three months, and I was excited about attending. Going into a majority of situations in life, I visualize how I want things to occur. One of the big things I was looking forward to besides networking and maybe getting one on one time with an editor, (I got to talk to Colleen DeBaise), was meeting Barbara Corcoran. Low and behold, I was the first person to meet her as she walked through the door. I spotted her in her hot pink dress and power walked over to her. Continue Reading →
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” ― Dr. Seuss
I have been an avid reader since I was a kid, and I’m still very fond of the public library. Reading books has helped me over these three year’s that I’ve owned a business. In the process I have built a size-able library of my own, which is still as much of an escape as it used to be. My early twenties were dedicated to E. Lynn Harris, Sophie Kinsella, Donna Hill & Laura Weisberger books. The only difference now is that I read more business, networking, time management, autobiographies and start up books. (I still mix a little fiction in here and there).
My goal for 2013 is to read a new book every week. I am pretty good at finishing a book within 2 days of starting it. This year I want to pace myself and truly digest what I am reading. I will be starting the year with “Maximize the Moment: God’s Action Plan For Your Life” by T.D. Jakes. Below is my list of books Ill be reading this year and I will be adding more to my pinterest page throughout the year.
This is a small portion of my 2013 reading list, and I know it will grow with several of my favorite twitter and instagram followers that share their new reads. Several books about Silicon Valley are coming out this spring, so they will be on my list too. I hope this list inspires you to start reading more, and if you’re already into reading, I hope this list gives you new authors to check out.
What are you reading in 2013? Who are your favorite authors?
P.S. Oh The Place You’ll Go by Dr. Seuss is one of my favorite inspirational books. They read it at my sister graduation from UT.
